Switch 2 Launch Titles Predicted
With the Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, speculation about its launch lineup is rife. While an official list remains elusive, we can make educated guesses based on Nintendo's history and recent announcements. Some predictions, like a new Mario title, feel almost certain. However, we also hope to see some exciting new projects from beloved indie studios.

While expecting all these games on day one is wishful thinking, even half would make for a stellar launch. Here are our hopeful picks for the Switch 2's launch titles:
Mario Kart 9
Over a decade since Mario Kart 8's Wii U release, it remains a karting masterpiece, enhanced by the Switch's Deluxe Edition and substantial DLC. Its immense success makes a sequel highly probable. While a "new twist" was reported in 2022, official confirmation is pending. We anticipate fresh, innovative gameplay alongside a launch-day release—a true system seller.
New 3D Super Mario
The Switch surprisingly only features one new 3D Mario platformer (Super Mario Odyssey, 2017) besides a Super Mario 3D World re-release. The absence of Odyssey DLC further fuels anticipation for a new 3D adventure. A launch-day release, alongside or shortly after Mario Kart 9, would be a powerful statement from Nintendo.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Metroid Prime 4, initially announced in 2017, experienced a lengthy development period, with a shift from Bandai Namco Studios to Retro Studios. The recently revealed Metroid Prime 4: Beyond showcased impressively smooth gameplay, leading to speculation about a Switch 2 release. A launch-day arrival would finally end the long wait.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Enhanced
Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are Switch juggernauts. Backward compatibility is hoped for, ideally with an enhanced mode leveraging the Switch 2's rumored power. Experiencing Hyrule in crisp 4K would be a dream come true.
Ring Fit Adventure 2
Nintendo often includes quirky titles at launch, and Ring Fit Adventure is a prime candidate for a sequel. Its 15 million+ sales demonstrate its success. A Ring Fit Adventure 2, showcasing the Switch 2's control innovations, would be a welcome addition.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
The original Switch lacked the power for Capcom's Resident Evil 4 Remake, but the Switch 2 might change that. A launch-day release would showcase the console's capabilities and offer a poetic return to Nintendo for this horror classic.
Doom: The Dark Ages
This is a bolder prediction. With Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal on Switch and Microsoft's expanding multi-platform strategy, Doom: The Dark Ages on Switch 2 is plausible. A reveal at the Xbox Developer Direct, including a launch-day release, would be a significant surprise.
The Haunted Chocolatier
Following the success of Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe's The Haunted Chocolatier is highly anticipated. A Switch 2 launch would be ideal, though a launch year release might be more realistic given the developer's recent comments.
Earthblade
Earthblade, the successor to Celeste, is another strong contender. While updates have been infrequent, a 2025 release, potentially coinciding with the Switch 2 launch, is possible.
