Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, the mastermind behind Stardew Valley, recently took to Twitter (X) to update fans on the game's ongoing developments. Amidst discussions about the progress of various ports and the next PC update, Barone reassured his community with a powerful pledge. In response to a fan's comment hoping for free additions, Barone stated, "I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live." This promise ensures that Stardew Valley will continue to evolve and grow without any additional costs to its players.

Barone's dedication to Stardew Valley is evident in his daily work on the mobile port and his ongoing efforts to enhance the game. He acknowledges the time it's taking but assures fans that he is fully committed, stating, "The ports and next PC update are still in progress. I know it is taking a long time, it's on my mind every minute. I have personally been working on the mobile port every day. I will announce when there is any meaningful news (e.g. a release date). Hope you're having a good summer."

Stardew Valley, launched in 2016, is a cherished farming simulator and RPG that has seen numerous substantial updates. The most recent 1.6.9 update introduced three new festivals, the ability to have multiple pets, expanded home renovation options, new outfits, late-game content, and various quality-of-life improvements. These updates showcase Barone's continuous effort to keep the game fresh and engaging for its community.

Barone’s commitment to free updates may extend beyond Stardew Valley. He is also working on a new game, Haunted Chocolatier, though details are sparse at this point. Fans eagerly await further announcements about this intriguing project.

As the sole developer of Stardew Valley, Barone's promise reflects his deep respect and empathy for the gaming community. He even challenged fans to "Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath," reinforcing his dedication to providing new and engaging content for Stardew Valley without any additional cost, even as the game celebrates its seventh year.
