Stalker 2: Science Unraveled in Side Quest Guide

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will encounter various NPCs, leading to quests ranging from small tasks to extensive side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While short, it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

1. Initiating the "For Science!" Quest:

The "For Science!" side quest begins by finding Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, Mongoose will radio Skif, requesting a meeting at the building. Inside the Central Elevator, go left past the conveyor belts, ascend the rusty stairs, vault the railing, and speak to Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo. Accepting his request starts the mission.

2. Reaching the Silo's Summit:

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Dispatch any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows provides access to an exterior walkway and ladder. Use this to reach the silos. Equip a bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the second measuring device. Activating it attracts a Bloodsucker horde. Eliminate them or evade them to return to Mongoose.

3. Confronting Yaryk Mongoose:

Upon returning to Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward and depart. Neither choice has significant repercussions. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass; however, choosing the peaceful option yields the pass and additional coupons. The pass unlocks the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main story missions.
