Hazelight Games has announced that their latest co-op adventure game, Split Fiction, is off to an impressive start, having sold 2 million copies within its first week of release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly established itself as another major success for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The studio previously reported that Split Fiction reached 1 million sales just 48 hours after its launch, which means an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days. This rapid sales growth underscores the game's appeal and the excitement surrounding its dual-protagonist sci-fi narrative featuring characters Mio and Zoe.

As a co-op game, Split Fiction's actual player count is likely much higher than the number of copies sold, thanks to its innovative Friend's Pass feature. This feature allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, significantly expanding its reach. With the game continuing to gain traction on social media, the 2 million sales figure is expected to rise even further.

Hazelight's previous title, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, mirrored this success trajectory. It sold around 1 million copies a few weeks after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's Split Fiction review, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
