The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park is set to return for Season 27, and it appears our favorite Colorado crew will be tackling, in their own inimitable style, the current state of affairs.

The beloved animated series has released a new trailer for the upcoming season, cleverly setting up the audience for a dramatic twist. The trailer starts with intense editing and music, creating an ominous atmosphere that hints at a new drama. However, the mood quickly shifts when Stan's dad, Randy, and his sister Shelley appear on-screen. Randy, sitting on Shelley's bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, asks her if she's been taking drugs. "Because I think it could really help you," he suggests, injecting a dose of classic South Park humor into the teaser.

South Park Season 27 premieres Wednesday, July 9th.

Following this gag, the trailer returns to its intense visuals, hinting at several major and topical events for the new season. Expect to see plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy cameo, and, as fans might have guessed, another war with Canada — a nod to the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has released three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997.
