Following a closed alpha, Smite 2's open beta is now available for free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. This free-to-play launch includes a significant patch introducing new gods, a revamped game mode, and more.

Revealed a year ago, Smite 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the popular third-person MOBA, powered by Unreal Engine 5. It boasts significant improvements over its predecessor, featuring refined visuals and enhanced combat mechanics. A redesigned item shop allows players to equip diverse items regardless of their chosen god's classification. Gameplay remains core to the original Smite: players embody gods from various cultures in 5v5 battles, vying for control of the map and ultimately, victory. Now, after a successful closed alpha, the game is open to all players.

Beginning January 14th, Smite 2's open beta launched across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck, offering a free download. This update delivers substantial new content, headlined by Aladdin, a god meticulously designed for Smite 2. Aladdin's unique abilities include wall-running and a revival mechanic tied to his companion's three wishes. His ultimate ability, true to his legendary origins, involves capturing enemies within his lamp for a thrilling 1v1 duel.

Joining Aladdin in the expanded Smite 2 roster are Geb (Egyptian God of Earth), Mulan (Chinese Ascendant Warrior), Agni (Hindu Pantheon), and Ullr (Norse Pantheon). In addition to the new gods, the popular Joust mode from the original Smite makes a comeback, offering 3v3 battles on a smaller map. The Conquest map and an alpha version of the Assault game mode are also included in the open beta.

Titan Forge Games' creative director has stated that Smite 2 surpasses its predecessor in numerous aspects. The developers expressed gratitude for the player feedback received during the closed alpha, which significantly contributed to Smite 2's improvements, and promised ambitious new content for the game in 2025.

While available on major platforms, Smite 2 is currently absent from the Nintendo Switch. The developers previously cited concerns regarding the console's ability to smoothly run the game. However, they remain open to the possibility of bringing Smite 2 to the Nintendo Switch 2. For now, Smite fans can enjoy the open beta on their preferred platform.
