The Simpsons: Tapped Out Is About To Tap Out As EA Is Shutting It Down
EA's long-running mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is closing its doors after twelve years. This city-building game, initially launched in 2012 (iOS) and 2013 (Android), will be unavailable for download starting October 31st, 2024. Servers will finally shut down on January 24th, 2025. In-app purchases are already disabled.
The End of an Era
EA expressed gratitude to players in their sunset announcement, acknowledging the decade-long partnership with The Simpsons and The Walt Disney Company that allowed fans to build their own Springfield.
One Last Chance to Play?
If you haven't experienced the game, here's a brief overview. Players rebuild Springfield after Homer's mishap, managing the town's reconstruction and interacting with familiar characters like Marge, Lisa, Bart, and even Fat Tony. Features include expanding the town to Springfield Heights and even running Apu's Kwik-E-Mart.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a freemium game with regular updates based on the show and real-world events. While free to download, in-game "donuts" are the primary currency for faster progress.
