Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager
Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, confirms that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real and actively in development, putting fan speculation to rest. This follows recent online chatter sparked by a cake-related profile picture change by a co-creator, which proved to be unrelated to any Silksong announcement.
Official Confirmation
Griffin's statement on X (formerly Twitter) directly addresses fan concerns, reassuring players that the game's development is ongoing and a release is planned. This marks the first significant update from the team in over a year and a half.
While the confirmation is welcome news, the response from the fanbase is mixed. Some express relief and offer words of encouragement to the developers, urging them to avoid succumbing to external pressure. Others remain impatient, feeling the update lacks concrete details after nearly six years of anticipation.
A Long-Awaited Sequel
Initially revealed in February 2019 with a projected release in the first half of 2023, Silksong was delayed in May 2023 due to the game's expanded scope and the developers' commitment to quality. Team Cherry previously highlighted key features, including a new kingdom, almost 150 new enemies, and a challenging "Silk Soul" mode.
The game will follow Hornet, the princess-protector from Hollow Knight, on a perilous journey to the peak of a new kingdom. Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. While a release date remains unannounced, fans eagerly await further news.
