Shift Up Reports Record Year, PC Sales to Surpass PS5
Shift Up, the developer behind the acclaimed action role-playing game Stellar Blade, has reported a record-breaking financial year in 2024. The game, which sees players embodying Eve in her fight against mysterious invaders to reclaim Earth, has generated a staggering $43.2 million in royalties. This success has contributed to Shift Up's total revenue of $151.4 million, marking a significant 30.4% increase from the previous year.
According to Game World Observer, the financial surge is not expected to wane anytime soon. Shift Up confidently predicts that the upcoming PC version of Stellar Blade will surpass the sales of its PlayStation 5 counterpart, particularly in the Asian gaming market. This optimism is fueled by the game's strong performance, having quickly sold a million copies and receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN. Despite praise for its action-packed gameplay, IGN noted that the game's characters and story were somewhat lackluster, and certain RPG mechanics were frustrating.
Looking ahead, Shift Up is set to unveil its next project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. This new game was announced shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 release in 2024, before any significant momentum for a sequel could be established. While Project Witches is not a follow-up to Stellar Blade, Shift Up has expressed interest in potentially developing another game within the Stellar Blade franchise.
