PlayStation Portal (Used: Like New) Under $160
$199.99 $158.70 at Amazon (Save 21%)
Used: Like New Condition Looks and functions like new. Minor packaging damage noted.
The PS Portal, resembling an extended DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen, transforms your PS5 into a handheld gaming system, streaming games at up to 60fps. Mirroring the DualSense's haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and touchscreen interface, it provides a familiar yet portable experience. Streaming is possible even outside your home, provided you have a very stable, high-speed internet connection. Crucially, it's not a standalone device; a PS5 is required—or is it?
Update: Sony's added PlayStation Now cloud streaming support! Now, instead of solely relying on your PS5, you can access a library of over 120 games directly through the Portal's connection to Sony's cloud servers. This means Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and more are now accessible. A PlayStation Plus Premium subscription is needed, but at $18 a month, it's a more budget-friendly option than buying a PS5 and individual games.
While the PS Portal excels at home PS5 streaming, remember that PS Remote Play on mobile devices (including the Steam Deck) offers similar functionality, albeit with more complex setup and fewer DualSense features.
PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy:
"The PlayStation Portal surprisingly exceeded my expectations. It's far superior to using a phone with a clip-on controller and works better than anticipated. The freedom to play my PS5 anywhere with decent Wi-Fi is fantastic. However, the lack of browser-based Wi-Fi login and Bluetooth audio support are significant drawbacks. Despite these issues, it's the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play. Without those caveats, it would be a must-have for any PS5 owner who enjoys handheld gaming."
