Rocksteady Seeks Game Director for Next Batman Title

Author : Nicholas Update : Mar 14,2025

Rocksteady Studios, the acclaimed developer behind the Batman: Arkham series, is hunting for a Game Director for its next big project. A job listing, posted February 17th by Warner Bros. Discovery, reveals the successful candidate will be responsible for crafting a high-quality game design, encompassing everything from core gameplay mechanics and player progression to combat systems and mission design. The ideal candidate should possess experience across diverse genres, including third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee combat games.

This job description has ignited speculation about a potential return to the Batman universe, the franchise that catapulted Rocksteady to fame. The Batman: Arkham series closely aligns with the listed requirements, unlike their recent title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which leaned more heavily on gunplay.

As Rocksteady is still in the early stages of recruitment, the game is likely in its conceptual phase. Industry insider Jason Schreier suggests that, should Rocksteady proceed with a new single-player Batman game, fans shouldn't anticipate its release for several years.

Rocksteady's latest release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, launched February 2nd, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game received mixed reception, scoring 63/100 on Metacritic (critics) and a 4.2/10 user score.

Previous reports hinted at a possible return to the Batman franchise, with rumors suggesting a project potentially inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
