Resident Evil Creator Wants Cult Classic, Killer7, to Get a Sequel By Suda51

Resident Evil's mastermind, Shinji Mikami, recently expressed strong support for a Killer7 sequel during a presentation alongside Goichi "Suda51" Suda. This sparked excitement among fans of the cult classic action-adventure title.

Killer7: A Sequel or a Complete Edition?

The Grasshopper Direct presentation, primarily focused on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, unexpectedly veered into a discussion about Killer7's future. Mikami openly declared his desire for a sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites. Suda51, the creative force behind Killer7, mirrored this enthusiasm, hinting at a potential sequel and even suggesting playful title ideas like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."

Killer7, a 2005 GameCube and PlayStation 2 release, captivated players with its blend of horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of manifesting seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. Despite its cult following and a 2018 PC remaster, a sequel has remained elusive. However, Suda51 revealed a long-held desire to revisit and expand upon his original vision, suggesting a "Complete Edition" that would restore substantial cut dialogue for the character Coyote. While Mikami playfully dismissed this as "lame," the team acknowledged the potential for such a release.

The mere suggestion of a sequel or a complete edition ignited fervent fan speculation. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' shared enthusiasm has generated considerable buzz. The ultimate decision, as Suda51 stated, rests on whether a "Killer7: Beyond" or a Complete Edition will take precedence.
