Adapted from BOOM! Studios' graphic novel series by Arash Amel, Butterfly presents "a character-driven spy thriller revealing family tensions within the cutthroat world of international espionage."

The official synopsis reveals: "The story follows David Jung (Kim), an unpredictable former U.S. intelligence operative now living in South Korea. His fragile peace shatters when past decisions resurface, putting him in the crosshairs of Rebecca (Hardesty), a ruthless young agent ordered to eliminate him, and her shadowy employer Caddis - the intelligence organization pulling her strings."

"Butterfly represents the fulfillment of my long-held passion project - creating a series that bridges American and Korean storytelling traditions," said Kim. "Our incredible creative team has brought this vision to life, and I'm deeply grateful to Ken Woodruff, Boom! Studios, our production partners, and Amazon for making it possible."

The series features showrunner Ken Woodruff (The Mentalist, Gotham) co-creating with novelist Steph Cha. The ensemble cast includes Kim Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, Charles Parnell, Sean Dulake, and Nayoon Kim, with special appearances by Sung Dong-il and Lee Il-hwa.

Executive producers include Woodruff, Cha, Kim, John Cheng (3AD), Stephen Christy and Ross Richie (BOOM! Studios), and Arash Amel (The Amel Company).
