Pokémon TCG Pocket Update: Trading Feature Delayed Until Autumn

Author : Nora Update : May 07,2025

The launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket was met with enthusiasm, but the trading feature quickly became a point of contention due to its restrictive nature and the difficulty in obtaining the necessary currency. However, the developers have announced significant changes to address these issues, promising a more streamlined and enjoyable trading experience.

The most notable change is the complete removal of Trade Tokens. Previously, these tokens were essential for trading but were hard to come by. Now, the trading system will utilize Shinedust instead. Players will earn Shinedust by opening booster packs and receiving cards that are already registered in their Card Dex. This new currency will be used to trade cards of three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarity.

For those who have accumulated Trade Tokens, there's good news: these can be converted into Shinedust. This conversion is particularly important as Shinedust is also required to obtain flair, and the developers have hinted at further modifications to the Shinedust system in upcoming updates. Additionally, a future update will introduce an in-game function allowing players to share cards they are interested in trading.

Trading Spaces

As previously discussed, the initial implementation of trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket felt somewhat half-hearted. The digital nature of the game necessitates more restrictions than physical trading to prevent abuse, which has been a significant challenge. While the announced changes are a step in the right direction, they are not expected to be implemented until autumn, leaving players waiting through the spring and summer.

Despite the slow pace of these updates, it's clear that the team behind Pokémon TCG Pocket is committed to improving the trading experience.
