The Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages and Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

Author : Carter Update : Apr 23,2025

The Pokémon Company has officially responded to the ongoing challenges fans face when trying to acquire the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent announcement, the company acknowledged the issues and promised forthcoming reprints, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring that products reach the fans.

The launch of the latest Pokémon TCG set, Destined Rivals, was marred by product shortages, pre-order complications, and the influence of scalpers. High demand has also affected other recent releases such as Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, making them hard to come by.

In a statement released on the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company (TPC) recognized that some fans are struggling to purchase certain Pokémon TCG products due to overwhelming demand and limited availability.

"We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the affected Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement explained. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible."

TPC also committed to "maximizing production" for future TCG expansions to improve product availability from the outset and promised to "continue to reprint impacted products" to restock inventory, including at the Pokémon Center.

In response to scalping issues, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed the problem. For Pokémon Center releases, the company is "committed to providing a smooth purchasing experience and employ technology that helps get products into the hands of fans first and foremost." To manage high site traffic, the Pokémon Center currently uses a virtual queue system for certain products.

"We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated. "We’d like to thank the community for their continued support and patience as we work to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans."

With these assurances, it's hoped that the Pokémon Company's efforts will ease the challenges of collecting and enjoying the Pokémon TCG when new sets are released.
