When Poker Meets Solitaire, It’s Called Balatro! Now Out On Android
Balatro, the acclaimed indie game, is now available on Android! Published by Playstack and developed by LocalThunk, Balatro quickly became a 2024 gaming sensation after its February console and PC release.
This deck-building roguelike puts a unique twist on classic card games like Poker and Solitaire. At its heart, Balatro challenges you to craft winning poker hands while battling tricky bosses and navigating a constantly evolving deck.
Understanding Balatro's Rules
You'll face bosses known as "Blinds," each imposing unique restrictions on your gameplay. Your goal is to outmaneuver these Blinds by collecting chips and forming powerful poker hands, ultimately surviving to conquer the final challenge: Ante 8's special Boss Blind.
With each hand, new Jokers enter the fray—and these aren't your ordinary Jokers. Each possesses unique powers that can disrupt your opponents or provide crucial advantages. Some Jokers might multiply your score, while others inject extra cash into your in-game shop funds.
Customize your deck with diverse special cards. Planet cards, for example, modify specific poker hands, offering opportunities to level up certain hand types. Tarot cards, meanwhile, can alter card ranks or suits, sometimes even adding extra chips to your total.
Balatro offers two game modes: Campaign and Challenge. With over 150 Jokers, each playthrough feels fresh and unpredictable. Check out the captivating trailer below!
A Poker-Themed Roguelike Deck-Builder
Balatro masterfully blends strategy with unpredictable card draws. The constant surprise of new Jokers and bonus hands is a key part of the game's appeal. The game's pixel art visuals, reminiscent of classic CRT displays, add to its charm.
If you enjoy roguelikes and deck-building games, Balatro is a must-try. Download it now from the Google Play Store for $9.99.
