Pokemon GO Event Adding Long-Requested Feature for a Limited Time
Pokemon GO Fashion Week: Remote Raid Passes in Shadow Raids!
Pokemon GO's Fashion Week: Taken Over event brings a highly anticipated feature: remote raid pass functionality for Shadow Raids! For the first time, trainers can participate in Shadow Raids remotely, using their remote raid passes. This limited-time opportunity runs from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time.
This event allows participation in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids both in-person and remotely. A key benefit? Increased chances of catching Pokémon with superior IV stats in these raids.
Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day:
The excitement extends to a special Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th (2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time). Trainers will have enhanced odds of catching a Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh and can teach it the Sacred Fire charged attack. Furthermore, the event provides the chance to remove the Frustration move from Shadow Pokémon using a Charged TM.
A Temporary Treat (For Now):
While this remote raid pass functionality for Shadow Raids is event-exclusive, it addresses a significant player request since their introduction in 2023. After Fashion Week concludes, remote raid passes will no longer be usable in Shadow Raids.
Whether this will become a permanent feature remains uncertain. Given past criticism regarding the in-person requirements for Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, many hope Niantic will make remote participation in Shadow Raids a standard feature.
