Persona 4 Remake: Will It Be Persona 4 Reload?

Following the triumphant launch of *Persona 3: Reload*, fans are buzzing with excitement at the prospect of a *Persona 4* remaster. A recent development has sparked even more speculation—could it be a confirmation of what fans have been hoping for? Dive into the details here.

Persona enthusiast and YouTuber ScrambledFaz recently shared an intriguing screenshot on X, revealing that the domain “p4re.jp” was registered on March 20th. This follows a similar pattern observed two years ago when “p3re.jp” was registered just months before the announcement of the Persona 3 remake. This has ignited discussions and theories among fans that a Persona 4 remake might be in the works.

The original Persona 4 game, released in 2008, was initially available on PlayStation 3 and 4. Later, in 2012, Persona 4 Golden hit the shelves, offering a full port to PlayStation Vita and PC. This version not only boasted enhanced graphics but also introduced new content such as the town of Okina City and the beloved romanceable character, Marie.

However, it's important to note that Persona 4 Golden should not be confused with a full-fledged remake. Similar to Persona 3 Portable—a 2009 release adapted for the PSP that featured a new protagonist and additional Velvet Room character Theodore—Persona 4 Golden made significant improvements but did not match the comprehensive overhaul seen in Persona 3: Reload.

What Would a Persona 4 Remake Look Like?

Should a Persona 4 remake follow in the footsteps of Persona 3 Reload, fans have much to look forward to. The charming, albeit dated, graphics of the 2008 release would undoubtedly receive a modern facelift. Expect updated character portraits and revitalized animations for cutscenes.

Additionally, a remake could introduce an array of new side quests and deepen character interactions, allowing players to once again revel in the development of social links. Persona 4 Golden introduced Okina City, where players could immerse themselves in activities like visiting the cinema or enjoying a coffee shop. A remake could potentially expand these elements, offering even more depth and engagement within the city.

When Should We Expect a Persona 4 Remake?

In 2024, a credible Sega leaker hinted to sources that a Persona 4 remake is indeed in development. However, patience will be required, as the project is not expected to materialize soon. Drawing parallels with Persona 3: Reload, which was announced in June 2023 at the Xbox Summer Showcase, an announcement for the Persona 4 remake might be forthcoming as early as June.

Amidst these rumors, Atlus has been teasing updates about Persona 6 for years. With nearly a decade passing since the release of Persona 5, anticipation for the next installment remains high, though no release date has been confirmed yet. The potential Persona 4 remake could further delay Persona 6, much to the dismay of some fans who argue that Persona 4 does not necessitate a remake. Nevertheless, the hope is that the development of Persona 4 Reload won't significantly impede the progress of Persona 6, which has reportedly been in the works for years.

And that's the latest on the buzz surrounding a possible Persona 4 Reload remake.
