Palworld 0.5.0 Update: Crossplay, Blueprint Upgrades, Photo Mode Added
Palworld's latest update, version 0.5.0, introduces an exciting array of new features, including crossplay across all platforms. This means that players on different devices can now enjoy the game together seamlessly. One of the standout additions is the Global Palbox, which allows you to store Pal data and transfer your Pals between different worlds, enhancing your gameplay experience. Additionally, the new Dimensional Pal Storage system offers a whopping 10 times the capacity of the regular Palbox, and it can be used both by guild members and as personal storage with customizable private settings.
The update also brings a cosmetic armor system, allowing you to change your character's appearance using the Antique Dresser without affecting your armor stats. This feature, known as transmog, gives you the freedom to express your style in the game. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the new Photo Mode, accessible via the Pal Command Wheel, which lets you hide the UI and capture stunning in-game screenshots. For those interested in crafting, the Drafting Table now enables you to combine low-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones, enhancing your building capabilities. Moreover, dedicated servers for Mac have been added, ensuring that Mac users can enjoy a smoother gaming experience.
Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an impressive 32 million players. Developer Pocketpair is committed to expanding the game further, with plans for dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version in the future. The studio has also outlined an extensive content roadmap for 2025, which includes an "ending scenario" and more new content to keep the community engaged.
Priced at $30 on Steam and available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, Palworld's launch broke sales and concurrent player number records. The game's overwhelming success led Pocketpair to form a new business, Palworld Entertainment, in partnership with Sony, aimed at expanding the Palworld IP and bringing the game to PS5.
However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, alleging infringement on multiple patent rights. In response, Pocketpair has adjusted how players summon Pals and is prepared to defend its position in court, promising to assert its stance through future legal proceedings.
