Overwatch 2 is making a grand return to China, offering players the chance to earn rewards from Seasons 1 through 9, skins inspired by Chinese mythology, and much more. The Chinese Overwatch 2 community can look forward to diving back into the action on Future Earth starting February 19, coinciding with the launch of Season 15.

The much-anticipated return of Overwatch 2 to China was recently confirmed. The game will officially relaunch on February 19, following a successful technical test held from January 8 to 15. This test allowed fans to experience a range of content they missed, including Overwatch: Classic and the six new heroes introduced since the servers shut down in China during Season 2.

With the technical test now behind us, Overwatch 2 has unveiled some of the exciting features Chinese players can anticipate. According to a message from Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller on Xiaohongshu, also known as RedNote, a multi-week "Return to China" celebration will feature many of the most popular in-game events and rewards that fans have missed over the past two years. Additionally, all Chinese players will have the opportunity to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the game's relaunch, and from Seasons 3 through 9 via in-game events once the game is back online.

Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?

Keller also announced that Overwatch 2 Season 15 will include skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. Currently, it's unclear whether these skins will be new or existing, if they'll be exclusive to China, or if they might be part of a broader Chinese mythology theme for the yet-to-be-revealed Season 15. This approach would be similar to how many cosmetics in Overwatch 2 Season 14 were inspired by Norse mythology.

Fans worldwide won't have to wait long for more information. Overwatch 2 Season 15 kicks off on February 18, just before the game's official relaunch in China. With less than a month to go, players can expect to learn more about the upcoming season soon, with a full reveal likely in early February.

In the meantime, players can enjoy the second 6v6 test, Min 1, Max 3, from January 21 through February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. The Lunar New Year and the Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also scheduled to occur before Season 15, promising a packed calendar of exciting events. While Chinese players might not participate in these events, they can certainly look forward to their own special celebrations once the game relaunches.
