Meridiem Games Cancels Omori's European Physical Release for Switch and PS4

The publisher cited technical difficulties related to multilingual European localization as the reason for the cancellation.

A History of Delays

The physical release faced multiple delays, initially slated for March 2023, then pushed back to December 2023, and further to March 2024. Pre-orders were subsequently delayed to January 2025 before the ultimate cancellation. While Meridiem Games offered limited information regarding the specific technical issues, the cumulative delays clearly impacted the project's viability.

This news is a significant disappointment for European fans, particularly those anticipating the game's official release in Spanish and other local languages. While digital versions remain accessible, the lack of a physical release means European players must resort to importing US copies to own the game physically.

About Omori

Omori is a critically acclaimed RPG centered around Sunny, a young boy grappling with the aftermath of a traumatic event. The narrative seamlessly blends the real world with Sunny's dream world, where he adopts the persona of Omori. Initially released on PC in 2020, the game expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022. However, the Xbox version was subsequently removed due to an unrelated issue involving merchandise from the game's developer.
