Nolan North Welcomes Troy Baker to PlayStation's Adventure Game Elite
Bethesda has announced that MachineGames' Indiana Jones and The Great Circle will launch on PlayStation 5 with early access starting April 15, ahead of its global release on April 17. Those who pre-order the game will gain access to the early access period.
The PS5 release comes four months after Indiana Jones and The Great Circle debuted on Xbox and PC. Alongside this announcement, Bethesda released a playful promotional trailer featuring two of the most iconic video game actors: Troy Baker, who voices Indiana Jones, and Nolan North, known for his role as Nathan Drake in the PlayStation-exclusive Uncharted series. This meeting of the actors is a nod to the full circle moment for The Great Circle itself, given that the Uncharted series draws heavy inspiration from Indiana Jones.
In the trailer, Baker and North engage in a light-hearted conversation, with North humorously suggesting he broke into the ornate room they're in, hinting at the typical scenarios his character Nathan Drake faces. The banter continues as North teases Baker about facing Private Military Forces with just a whip, to which Baker responds with a clever quip about using his head, prompting a playful exchange about their characters' styles and preferences.
The dialogue showcases their shared passion for ancient artifacts, albeit with different intentions: Baker's Indiana Jones aims to donate them to museums, while North's Nathan Drake would sell them to the highest bidder. This interaction symbolizes Nathan Drake welcoming Indiana Jones into an "exclusive club" of adventurers, with North declaring, "Welcome to the club." This signifies Xbox's Indiana Jones now standing alongside PlayStation's Uncharted on Sony's console, as partners in treasure-hunting adventures.
The release of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle on PS5 is part of Microsoft's broader strategy to release its games across multiple platforms, following the footsteps of other titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Doom: The Dark Ages. This multiplatform approach has already seen significant success, with Indiana Jones and The Great Circle reaching 4 million players thanks to its day-one launch on Game Pass. The PS5 version is expected to further boost these numbers.
Harrison Ford, the iconic actor behind Indiana Jones, has praised Troy Baker's performance in the game. In a conversation with The Wall Street Journal, Ford expressed his satisfaction with Baker's portrayal, humorously noting, "You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it."
