Nintendo Unveils Switch 1 Direct Before Switch 2 Event
Nintendo has just announced an exciting Nintendo Direct focused exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, set to stream tomorrow, March 27, at 7 a.m. PT. Fans can look forward to around 30 minutes of content highlighting upcoming games for the beloved console. It's important to note, however, that Nintendo has explicitly stated there will be no updates regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 during this presentation. Those eagerly awaiting news on the Switch 2 should mark their calendars for April 2 at 6 a.m. PT, when Nintendo will hold a separate Direct dedicated to the next-generation console.

With the Nintendo Switch having sold an impressive 150.86 million units worldwide, it's clear that the console still commands a massive audience. Even as Nintendo prepares for the Switch 2, there remains a robust lineup of games in development for the original Switch. Fans can anticipate updates on highly anticipated titles such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, both slated for release in 2025. Additionally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is expected to launch on the Switch sometime this year. The long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong, initially announced for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch, should also make an appearance, given its confirmed platforms.
Given that the Switch 2 is expected to be backwards compatible, these games are likely to be playable on both the current and next-gen consoles. This upcoming Nintendo Direct may serve as a final showcase for the Switch, celebrating its eight-year legacy with a slate of exclusive titles. However, knowing Nintendo's penchant for surprises, there might still be a few unexpected announcements in store for fans.
