Nintendo Denies Switch 2 Showcase Rumors for American Hardware Brand Genki
Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki unveiled a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has officially refuted the claims. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's statement that the images and videos circulating are not official. The company explicitly denied providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and gaming accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz by showcasing the 3D-printed model and hinting at possessing a functional Switch 2 unit, along with a purported release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo has remained tight-lipped about concrete Switch 2 details, only confirming backwards compatibility with the original Switch and promising an official announcement soon. This public denial from Nintendo suggests an imminent official reveal of the highly anticipated console is likely.
