Nintendo Alarm's Japan Release Delayed, Despite Global Availability
Nintendo Delays Japanese Alarmo Release Despite Global Availability
Nintendo has announced a delay in the Japanese retail release of its Alarmo alarm clock due to insufficient stock. The general sale, initially planned for February 2025, is postponed indefinitely.
Production Shortages Cause Delay
The delay stems from production and inventory issues, according to a statement on Nintendo Japan's website. Currently, there's no indication of whether this will impact other regions. A general release in other countries is still scheduled for March 2025.
In the interim, Nintendo is offering a pre-order system exclusively for Japanese Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Pre-orders open mid-December, with shipments beginning in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date will be announced separately.
The Alarmo's Unexpected Popularity
The Alarmo, a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring music from popular Nintendo franchises (Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, RingFit Adventure, and more), launched globally in October. Its immediate popularity overwhelmed Nintendo, leading to the halting of online orders and a lottery system. Physical stock quickly sold out in Japan and even the New York Nintendo store.
