NieR: Automata Guide: Unveiling Filler Metal Locations
Obtaining Filler Metal in NieR: Automata: A Comprehensive Guide
This guide details the two methods for acquiring Filler Metal in NieR: Automata, a crucial upgrade material. Finding it can be challenging, relying on both luck and game progression.
Locating Filler Metal in the Factory
Filler Metal is a rare drop found in specific item spawn locations within the depths of the Factory. The exact locations are randomized with each playthrough, making farming it a less-than-reliable strategy. Filler Metal has the lowest spawn rate compared to other items in the area.
The Factory: Hanger access point provides the most efficient starting point for searching, especially after accessing it through story progression. Note that you may need to revisit and unlock this access point again depending on your current story progress.
While movement speed boosts can slightly improve farming efficiency, consistent Filler Metal acquisition remains unreliable. The most effective approach is to thoroughly explore the Factory, collecting every naturally spawning item. However, purchasing it offers a more dependable alternative.
Purchasing Filler Metal
The only vendor selling Filler Metal is the Shopkeeper Machine located in the Amusement Park. However, this option becomes available only after completing all three playthroughs and obtaining one of the final endings. Using Chapter Select to revisit the Shopkeeper after beating the game will unlock the Filler Metal in their inventory, at a cost of 11,250 G per unit.
Despite the high price, purchasing Filler Metal is significantly more reliable than repeatedly farming the Factory. The Pod upgrades requiring Filler Metal are essential for completing the game, as enemies scale in level, making these upgrades necessary for progression.
