Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eiter Prepares for Launch

New Fox Hunt Multiplayer Mode Replaces Traditional Metal Gear Online

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will feature Fox Hunt as its multiplayer component, departing from the legacy Metal Gear Online system. During Konami's recent PRESS START livestream on June 12, Fox Hunt Director Yu Sahara provided exclusive details about this fresh multiplayer approach.

Sahara described Fox Hunt as "an entirely new online experience" that exists within the MGS Delta universe while offering distinct gameplay mechanics. This replaces the original PS2-era Metal Gear Online from MGS3: Subsistence.

"We're grateful for the loyal MGO fans who've awaited its return, but today's multiplayer landscape is vastly different," Sahara explained. The team focused on evolving camouflage mechanics and hide-and-seek gameplay for their innovative multiplayer concept.

"We wanted to create something special that goes beyond conventional shooter gameplay. By emphasizing tension-filled stealth encounters and intense search scenarios, we've developed an online experience that's uniquely Metal Gear," he added.

Previous Metal Gear Online iterations from MGS3 through MGS5 offered standard competitive modes. Sahara promised more detailed reveals would follow soon to showcase Fox Hunt's unique features.

Xbox-Exclusive Snake vs. Bomberman Mode

Konami previously announced the PlayStation 5 and Steam versions would exclusively include "Snake vs. Monkey" mode, while teasing an Xbox alternative featuring Bomberman. The latest Xbox trailer confirmed "Snake vs. Bomberman" as the console-exclusive minigame.

The mode's description reads: "Play as Snake in explosive battles against Bomberman across various stages."

Konami is delivering a meticulously remade version of their beloved classic with modern enhancements and additional content for contemporary audiences. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches August 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates, continue reading below!
