Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director
Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.
Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino confirmed there are no immediate plans for a sequel. His focus remains on completing the current project, which he initially conceived as a third major JRPG franchise alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship title for Atlus. While a sequel isn't currently in development, an anime adaptation is under consideration.
Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved remarkable success, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961 – surpassing even Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game's availability across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 contributes to its widespread appeal.
