Marvel Rivals players will start getting banned on consoles for using the keyboard and mouse
NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The use of adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from keyboard and mouse controls, is considered a violation of the game's terms of service. This is due to the significant competitive advantage provided by increased control precision and aiming assistance retention.
NetEase employs sophisticated detection technology to identify adapter usage with high accuracy, resulting in account suspensions for violators. The company states that such adapters create an unfair gameplay imbalance, particularly in competitive modes.
Separately, the game has been observed to exhibit a correlation between higher FPS and increased ping. While the effect might be negligible at low ping levels, a jump from, for example, 90ms to 150ms can severely impact gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate. Until a patch addresses this, players are advised to experiment with FPS settings to find an optimal balance between frame rate and ping. Some players suggest maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary solution, although this may seem counterintuitive to players accustomed to higher frame rates in other titles.
