Marvel Halts Production on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Shows

Marvel Television has reportedly placed three shows on hold: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Sources at Deadline indicate these projects weren't officially greenlit and might still be developed, but Marvel has adjusted its priorities.

This strategic shift coincides with Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. This week, Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, announced the exploration of reuniting the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—better known as The Defenders.

Marvel Studios is currently focusing on developing a larger volume of shows than it produces, reflecting Winderbaum's statement to Screen Rant last year: “We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.”

The Nova news is particularly unexpected, especially considering that just two months ago, former Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero was announced as writer and showrunner, with Nova confirmed for Disney+. For more details on Nova, see IGN's comprehensive article.

Strange Academy was anticipated to center around a magic school established by MCU's Doctor Strange, with Wong as its headmaster. Details regarding Terror, Inc. remain unavailable.

Confirmed Marvel TV show release dates include: Daredevil: Born Again (Disney+, March 4th), Ironheart (June 24th), and Wonder Man (December). Following the release of Captain America: Brave New World, three MCU films are slated for this year: Thunderbolts (May) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
