No Man\'s Sky: How to Get Solanium

Author : Lily Update : May 04,2025

In the vast universe of No Man's Sky, certain resources are exclusive to planets with specific climates, and Solanium is one such resource that you'll need to locate on hot and scorched planets. Whether you're looking to gather, farm, or craft Solanium, understanding its availability is crucial for effective base placement and resource management.

How to Find Solanium in No Man's Sky

Solanium is akin to Frost Crystal but is found on planets characterized by their extreme heat. To locate these planets, navigate your starship to a suitable world and use your scanner to identify the planet's type and available resources. Key terms to look for include Arid Planet, Incandescent Planet, Boiling Planet, and Scorched Planet, which indicate a hot and dry climate where Solanium is present.

Once you've landed on the planet, equip your Analysis Visor to spot Solar Vine plants. These plants resemble tall rocks enveloped in glowing vines and are typically found in clusters. You'll need the Haz-Mat Gauntlet to harvest them. While on the planet, consider collecting Phosphorus, another resource you can use to craft Solanium when hot planets are out of reach.

How to Farm Solanium in No Man's Sky

Farming Solar Vines becomes possible once you've advanced in the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission. You can then use a Hydroponic Tray or Bio-Dome to plant Solar Vines, requiring 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. If your base is situated on a hot planet, you have the added convenience of planting directly into the ground.

The growth cycle for Solar Vines is about 16 real-life hours, so plan your planting accordingly and return the following day to harvest your Solanium.

How to Craft Solanium in No Man's Sky

Crafting Solanium involves using a Refiner and primarily requires Phosphorus, which can be sourced from hot planets or purchased from traders and Galactic Trade Terminals. Here are the crafting recipes for Solanium in No Man's Sky:

  • Solanium + Phosphorus (to create more Solanium)
  • Phosphorus + Oxygen
  • Phosphorus + Sulphurine
  • Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine

Note that all these recipes, including those involving Sulphurine, necessitate access to a hot planet. To maintain a steady supply of Sulphurine, gather ample Phosphorus and establish a farm at your base.
