Crystal Dynamics Reveal Exciting New Legacy of Kain Projects

The beloved Legacy of Kain franchise is set to expand with two thrilling new projects announced by Crystal Dynamics, the California-based game developer behind the series. Following the successful December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, fans have more to look forward to as Crystal Dynamics teams up with UK-based creative design studio Lost In Cult and Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker.

Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Announce Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia

In an exciting press release, Crystal Dynamics revealed their collaboration with Lost In Cult and Cook and Becker to bring fans deeper into the world of Nosgoth. "We’re incredibly excited to be diving back into the world of Nosgoth with these two passion projects," said Ryan Brown of Lost In Cult. The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia that promises to be the definitive guide to the gothic world of Nosgoth, the central setting of the Legacy of Kain series.

Written by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, The Book of Nosgoth will offer a comprehensive exploration of Nosgoth’s locations, factions, and inhabitants. It will feature a detailed timeline that chronicles the epic rivalry between Kain and Raziel, providing fans with a deep understanding of the series' lore. Beyond the lore, the encyclopedia will include behind-the-scenes insights into the development of the Legacy of Kain games, with original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers. This compendium will delve into the creation of all five Legacy of Kain titles, offering a rich dive into the series’ production history.

An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Will Also Be Releasing Soon

The second project announced is Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, an atmospheric tabletop role-playing game set in Nosgoth during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against the vampiric scourge. This TTRPG will utilize the critically acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, promising a mechanics-light, high-stakes gameplay experience. Players will embody the warrior priests of the Sarafan Order, engaging in vampire hunts and exploring Nosgoth’s hidden history and spectral realms.

Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan will offer six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors, and the entire unique landscape of Nosgoth. This allows players to forge their own paths in a campaign focused on vampire hunts and the exploration of Nosgoth’s rich history.
