In a recent PC Gamer interview (February 3, 2025), KCD2's PR Manager, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, voiced the team's weariness with the ongoing criticism. He stated that the team's primary goal is creating an engaging game, regardless of external pressures or attempts to label their work. Senior Game Designer Ondřej Bittner echoed this sentiment, suggesting that extreme viewpoints often overshadow constructive feedback.

Historical Context of KCD2's Diversity

The game's setting in Kuttenberg, Bohemia's financial center, naturally lends itself to a more diverse cast than previous installments. Bittner highlighted the presence of various ethnicities, including Italians and Germans, as well as a Jewish quarter, reflecting the city's historical cosmopolitanism. He stressed the importance of authentically portraying these diverse perspectives within the game's narrative. Stolz-Zwilling confirmed that the game's content is historically researched and reflects their own creative decisions, not external mandates from publishers Plaion or Embracer.

He attributed recent lower Steam chart rankings to discounted competitor titles and not to negative player sentiment. Vávra also refuted rumors of a Saudi Arabian ban, emphasizing the game's role-playing nature and player agency in shaping their character's actions and consequences.
