*Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* offers a rich tapestry of side quests that deepen your engagement with its characters and world. Among these, the *Bad Blood* quest stands out, allowing you to delve into the lives of Bozhena and Pavlena. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to start and complete this intriguing quest.

How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

To embark on the *Bad Blood* quest, you must first progress through the main storyline until you're tasked with finding Mutt. Your journey will lead you to a clearing near Bozhena's hut, where Henry might suggest checking with Bozhena about Mutt. Visit her hut and inquire about Mutt, and she'll reveal that her daughter Pavlena is missing. Agree to help her, and the *Bad Blood* quest will be added to your journal.

Gather Information

Your quest begins in earnest by heading to Troskowitz. Start by speaking with Bailiff Thrush, then visit Innkeeper Betty at the tavern. These conversations will shed light on Bozhena and Pavlena's past and their reasons for being ostracized. Next, locate Woodcutter Dushko, who will guide you to Roman's house. Remember to save before attempting to lockpick the door to Roman's house. Inside, examine Pavlena's basket, then return to Dushko for further directions to a clearing near Roman's house, a favorite spot for the couple.

Search the Scene

From Roman's house, follow the objective marker down the hill towards the stream, then turn left at the two big boulders. Here, you'll discover a blood trail leading to Roman's dead body. Continue uphill to meet Hogherd Hugo, and then return to Troskowitz to speak with Hired Hand Straw. Successfully passing a dialogue check with Straw will reveal more about Jakesh and the truth behind Roman and Pavlena's fate. You may also consult with Thrush to decide Straw's fate. Your investigation continues at the rocks south of Zhelejov.

Confront Ota

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Confronting Ota

Navigate the objective area until you find a path behind a large boulder. Ascend the ladder to encounter Ota and Pavlena. With sufficient Charisma, you can persuade Ota to release Pavlena by choosing the following dialogue options: "What's your name?", "Let her go and I'll let you go.", and "I'll put in a good word for you with His Lordship." Despite Ota's compliance, Pavlena will take up the sword and kill him. After the confrontation, accompany Pavlena back to Bozhena, who will then request you to deal with Jakesh.

Kill Jakesh or Make Peace

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Decision with Jakesh

For the quest's conclusion, you face a choice: kill Jakesh or broker peace between him and Bozhena. Find Jakesh at his child's grave in Troskowitz. You can either eliminate him or attempt to negotiate peace. Alternatively, you could choose to kill Bozhena, though this is less common. The quest will conclude based on your decision. In my playthrough, I opted to kill Jakesh and informed Bozhena, which resulted in a reward.

Should You Kill Jakesh?

Choosing to kill Jakesh will lower your reputation in Troskowitz but significantly boost it with Bozhena and Pavlena. You'll unlock new dialogue with Pavlena and receive a necklace, a memento from Roman. Conversely, sparing Jakesh and facilitating peace will earn you 100 groschen from him. You can decide whether to share this with Bozhena upon returning, who, along with Pavlena, may then be allowed back into the settlement.
