While it's currently just a rumor, the situation appears to be quite concerning.

When MultiVersus launched in 2022, it enjoyed explosive success, reaching a peak of 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, the player base quickly dwindled by 99%, prompting Warner Bros. Games to close the project in June 2023, labeling it an "open beta test." Despite a relaunch in May 2024 with updates, the game has struggled to recapture its initial popularity.

Scheduled to kick off in early February, Season 5 might be the developers' last chance to rekindle players' interest. This season marks a significant relaunch, though the developers have chosen to categorize the initial 2022 release as a "beta."
