The buzz around Hollow Knight: Silksong has reached a fever pitch following Microsoft's mention of the game in an official Xbox post. Adding fuel to the fire, recent backend changes to the game's Steam listing have sparked widespread speculation about an imminent re-reveal and potential release. On March 24, as documented on SteamDB and shared across social media platforms like Reddit and Discord, the Steam metadata for Hollow Knight: Silksong was updated. These updates included an opt-in for the game on GeForce Now, Nvidia's video game streaming platform, along with changes to assets and the legal lines on the Steam store page, now indicating a copyright by Team Cherry for 2025, rather than 2019.

All signs point to an upcoming event related to Hollow Knight: Silksong, possibly hinting at a 2025 release. With Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2, fans might not have to wait long to get more information.

It's been six years since the announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong. While there have been occasional updates, long periods of silence from Team Cherry have kept fans on edge. January saw a surge in speculation among the game's dedicated followers, triggered by cryptic social media activity from a developer, suggesting a potential re-reveal during the Switch 2 Direct. There's even talk of the game launching as a timed exclusive on Nintendo's next-gen console.

When Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced, Team Cherry confirmed its launch on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. It's also highly anticipated on Microsoft's Game Pass, following a deal to bring the game to the service on day one.

In June 2022, Microsoft included Hollow Knight: Silksong in its Xbox-Bethesda Showcase, promising that all showcased games would be playable within the next 12 months. This led to expectations that the long-awaited sequel would be released within that timeframe. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay past the first half of 2023, with more details to follow as the game approached its release date. Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's marketing and publishing lead, stated, "We had planned to release in the first half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can."

As the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2017 game Hollow Knight, Silksong carries immense expectations and remains one of the most wishlisted games on Steam. In IGN's review of Hollow Knight, we praised the game, saying, "The world of Hallownest is compelling and rich, full of story that’s left for you to discover on your own, and built with branching paths that offer an absurd amount of choice in how you go about discovering it. With such a high density of secrets to find and fun, challenging enemies to face, it’s worth spending every moment you can in Hollow Knight."
