Harry Potter: Magic Awakened EOS Revealed: Spells Fail to Impress!

NetEase's collectible card role-playing game, *Harry Potter: Magic Awakened*, has announced its End of Service (EOS) in a regional move affecting the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. The servers in these regions will be shutting down on October 29th, 2024. Meanwhile, players in Asia and specific MENA territories can continue to enjoy the magical world of Hogwarts. Initially unveiled in 2020 at NetEase Games' annual event and developed by Zen Studio, the game made its debut in China in September 2021, followed by global pre-registrations in February 2022. Despite a promising start, delays led to a somewhat lackluster global launch on June 27th of the same year.

Why Did They Announce The EOS Of Harry Potter: Magic Awakened?

*Harry Potter: Magic Awakened* combined the allure of wizardry with engaging card-battling mechanics reminiscent of *Clash Royale*, initially captivating players with its Hogwarts atmosphere. However, the game struggled to maintain its momentum post-launch. A little over a year after its global release, it's facing closure due to declining player interest. On platforms like Reddit, players expressed frustration over the game's shift towards favoring those who spent more money, rather than rewarding skill. A significant point of contention was the overhaul of the rewards system, which previously allowed skilled, free-to-play players to compete effectively. The changes introduced nerfs and slowed progression for those not willing to spend, leading to dissatisfaction among the community.

As of August 26th, *Harry Potter: Magic Awakened* has been removed from the Google Play Store in the regions scheduled for closure. However, players in unaffected regions can still dive into the enchanting experience, engaging in dormitory life, attending classes, uncovering secrets, and dueling fellow students.
