Google Play Store to Auto-Launch Apps Soon
Ever downloaded a new app and then completely forgotten to open it? While I've never experienced this myself, Google Play Store seems to have found a solution for those who do. A new feature on the horizon might just be the answer: auto-launching installed apps.
What's The Scoop?
According to Android Authority, Google Play Store is developing a feature that could save you the hassle of manually opening newly installed apps. This feature, dubbed App Auto Open, would launch apps automatically right after they finish downloading. No more searching for the app icon or wondering if the download completed successfully. The app would pop up on your screen, ready to use.
This feature is still in the works, based on an APK teardown of Play Store version 41.4.19. It's not officially confirmed, and there's no set release date yet. However, if it becomes a reality, App Auto Open will be optional. You'll have the choice to enable or disable it, giving you control over whether apps from the Google Play Store auto-launch or not.
Here's how it's expected to work: Once an app is downloaded, a notification banner will appear at the top of your screen for around 5 seconds. Depending on your phone settings, it might also make a sound or vibrate, ensuring you don't miss the alert even if you're caught up in an Instagram reel or a mobile game raid.
Keep in mind, this information is still unofficial. We'll keep you updated as soon as Google releases more details on the App Auto Open feature.
