Author : Skylar Update : Jan 10,2025

Hello, game enthusiasts! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 29th, 2024. Today's roundup features a substantial lineup of new game releases, forming the core of our discussion, as is typical on Thursdays. We'll also explore a noteworthy selection of new sales. Let's dive into the games!

Featured New Releases

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)

The Famicom Detective Club returns after a long hiatus, presenting a new case faithful to the originals. Expect a fresh mystery with a presentation reminiscent of the recent Switch remakes. Can you solve the latest string of murders? My review is forthcoming.

Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)

Mikhail's comprehensive review provides a detailed analysis of Gundam Breaker 4's gameplay and Switch performance. In short: build and battle Gunplas! While the Switch version's performance may lag behind other platforms, it's still a satisfying experience. Check out Mikhail's excellent review for a deeper dive.

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)

Tengo Project continues its impressive streak of remakes with this 8-bit classic. While a departure from the source material, it delivers a classic-style action-platformer experience. My review will be available early next week.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)

A genre shift from its predecessor, Valfaris: Mecha Therion is a 2.5D side-scrolling shooter. While the genre change might surprise some, it offers plenty of enjoyable gameplay. A review is on its way.

Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)

The premise remains a bit mysterious, but the game's visuals are undeniably appealing. Expect food-based gameplay involving photography, exploration, and possibly secret-finding. Mikhail may offer further insights soon.

Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)

A monster truck game for monster truck fans. Featuring local and online multiplayer, various game modes, and a mixed reception on other platforms.

WitchSpring R ($39.99)

A potential remake of the original WitchSpring, offering a polished experience reminiscent of the Atelier series. The price point might be a concern for some, but it appears to be the most visually impressive WitchSpring title yet.

Depths of Sanity ($19.99)

An underwater exploration game with a fantastical horror theme. Players investigate a crew's disappearance in a dangerous underwater world, engaging in combat along the way. Well-received on other platforms, it's likely to appeal to fans of exploratory action games.

Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)

A farming-focused action game where a vegan vampire rebels against his bloodthirsty father. While I'm personally a bit fatigued by the genre, it might appeal to those seeking a different kind of farming simulator.

Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)

A marble roller game with seventy stages and eighty marbles to collect, featuring secret collectibles and special challenges.

Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)

A firefighting game aimed at a younger audience, featuring twenty missions and a lighter, more kid-friendly style compared to more realistic firefighting games.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)

A grotesque action game starring a hoverboarding cat. While the gameplay is reportedly decent, the Switch version suffers from technical issues that impact the overall experience.

Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)

A 1985 Konami vertical shooter featuring a transforming robot protagonist. A charming, classic shooter experience.

EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)

An early video game expansion pack featuring a new underworld to explore and the debut of legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro.

The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)

A blend of horror, survival, and roguelite elements, best experienced with up to ten online players.

Can of Wormholes ($19.99)

A clever puzzle game where players solve 100 hand-crafted puzzles as a sentient tin can dealing with worms.

Ninja I & II ($9.99)

A pair of NES-style microgames featuring ninja-themed challenges and local multiplayer.

Dice Make 10! ($3.99)

A fun and surprisingly addictive dice-based puzzle game with two modes of play.
