First-Ever Mobile Game Based on Made in Abyss Universe Announced

Avex Pictures has just unveiled a new mobile game titled Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey, bringing the enthralling world of Made in Abyss to mobile devices for the first time. The announcement came with the launch of the game's official X account, which will serve as the go-to source for updates as the release date approaches. While details about the gameplay are still sparse, it's confirmed that this will be a casual mobile title, initially available on Android and iOS platforms in Japan. There's no information yet on a global release, leaving fans outside Japan eagerly awaiting further news.

Dived into the Abyss Yet?

The Made in Abyss saga began in 2012 with a manga by Akihito Tsukushi, serialized on Web Comic Gamma. The story revolves around Riko, a young orphan from the town of Orth, which sits on the edge of the mysterious Abyss—a colossal vertical hole teeming with ancient technology, bizarre creatures, and unsolved mysteries. Riko aspires to emulate her mother, Lyza, a renowned White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished into the depths of the Abyss.

During her journey, Riko encounters Reg, a half-robot boy with no recollection of his origins. Together, they embark on a perilous descent into the Abyss, fully aware of the risks that might prevent their return. The manga's popularity led to its adaptation into an anime in 2017, followed by a sequel film, Dawn of the Deep Soul, released in Japan in 2020. Additionally, in 2022, Chime Corporation released a console and PC RPG, Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness, expanding the franchise's reach.
