Finn Jones Acknowledges Iron Fist Critiques, Aims to Prove Doubters Wrong
Charlie Cox's portrayal of Daredevil has seamlessly transitioned from Netflix to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sparking speculation about potential comebacks for other members of The Defenders. Finn Jones, who played Iron Fist, recently expressed his enthusiasm for a return, stating boldly, "I’m here and I’m ready."
Jones last donned the role of Danny Rand in Season 2 of the Iron Fist Netflix series and in The Defenders, where he joined forces with Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter). Despite the lukewarm reception to his portrayal of Iron Fist among fans compared to the other Defenders, the successful reintegration of Daredevil into the MCU has fueled hopes for a revival of The Defenders. Recent reports have hinted that Marvel is "exploring" this possibility.
At the anime convention, LaConve, in Monterrey, NL, Mexico, Jones addressed the criticism surrounding his performance as Iron Fist. He acknowledged the fans' mixed feelings about his potential return, saying, "There is a willingness for the fans to see that happen. There’s a lot of willingness for the fans to see that not happen as well. I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it."
In a passionate plea for another chance, Jones added, "My response to that is like, give me a f***ing chance, man. I’m here and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen."
Daredevil: Born Again continues the narrative started on Netflix, which once hosted its own smaller-scale Marvel universe, featuring shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. These series and the overarching Defenders story are now officially part of the MCU canon, available alongside other MCU shows and films on Disney+. Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of The Punisher, initially exclusive to Netflix, also makes an appearance in Daredevil: Born Again.
