Early in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, the Windward Plains offer your first opportunity to acquire Sharp Fangs. These fangs are essential for crafting early-game gear sets like Chatacabra and Talioth armor. To begin your hunt, undertake optional quests like “Beware the Chatacabra” or “The Desert is Demanding.” These quests provide access to the Windward Plains and a generous 50-minute time limit. Remember to prepare with a hearty meal before embarking on your hunt!

Once in the Windward Plains, head to Area 8, the largest area, teeming with various smaller monsters. While several creatures can drop Sharp Fangs, one stands out as the most reliable source.

Gaijos: Your Primary Target

Gaijos are small leviathan-like creatures, resembling crocodiles with unusual snouts. They are typically found near or in riverbeds, usually solitary. Use your map to locate the purple diamond markers near water sources to pinpoint their locations. These creatures are relatively weak, making them easy targets even with early-game weapons. Each defeated Gaijo guarantees a single Sharp Fang upon carving its carcass.

The Windward Plains usually spawns four to five Gaijos. To farm more Sharp Fangs, simply re-enter the region via any of the Windward Plains optional quests – the quickest and most efficient method.

Talioth: An Alternative Source

Talioth, bipedal creatures found in packs in Area 8 (and sometimes Area 13), are another potential source of Sharp Fangs, although not a guaranteed drop. While they are slightly tougher than Gaijos, they still pose little threat with starter weapons. Defeating Talioths also offers a chance to complete the “The Desert is Demanding” optional quest, requiring eight Talioth kills.
