New Evidence of Rumored Elder Scrolls 4 Remake Surfaces

Oblivion Remake Rumors Intensify: Unreal Engine 5 and a Potential 2025 Reveal

A developer's LinkedIn profile fuels speculation about an Oblivion remake built using Unreal Engine 5. Anticipation is high among fans, with many predicting an official reveal during a potential Xbox Developer Direct in 2025, although this event remains unconfirmed. The excitement extends beyond Oblivion, with many also hoping for a new Elder Scrolls VI trailer in the same year.

The persistent rumors surrounding an Oblivion remake have gained traction recently, with several leaks seemingly validating its existence. A 2023 rumor suggested a 2024 or 2025 release. Adding fuel to the fire, Xbox insider Jez Corden predicted a January 2025 unveiling during an Xbox Developer Direct. While unconfirmed, the precedent of similar events in January 2023 and 2024 lends credibility to this prediction.

A Technical Art Director at Virtuos, a studio reportedly involved in the project, posted on LinkedIn about working on an "unannounced Unreal Engine 5 remake for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S." While the game isn't explicitly named, the context and engine choice strongly suggest it's Oblivion, hinting at a full remake rather than a simple remaster. This contrasts with earlier rumors of a Fallout 3 remaster, the status of which remains unclear.

LinkedIn Listing Bolsters Remake Claims

Oblivion, the sequel to 2002's Morrowind, was released in 2006 to critical acclaim, praised for its expansive world, visuals, and soundtrack. Since 2012, the Skyblivion mod has been a testament to fan dedication, aiming to recreate Oblivion within Skyrim's engine. A recent update from the Skyblivion team suggests a 2025 release for their ambitious project.

The future of the Elder Scrolls franchise remains shrouded in mystery. The only trailer for Elder Scrolls VI debuted in 2018. Bethesda Game Studios has indicated it will follow Starfield, with director Todd Howard suggesting a release timeframe of "15 to 17 years after Skyrim." While a release date remains elusive, fans are hopeful for a new trailer before the end of 2025.
