Known as chickensandwich420 on YouTube, this player has embarked on a daily quest to conquer Messmer the Impaler, a notoriously tough boss from the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The challenge? Defeat Messmer every day using a different weapon, without taking a single hit, and all on NG+7 difficulty.

Since starting this challenge on December 16, 2024, chickensandwich420 has been documenting his progress. Initially, he considered tackling various bosses from FromSoftware's games but decided to focus on Messmer due to his university commitments. He humorously noted that he didn't want to "spend time grinding bosses instead of doing work."

Messmer the Impaler is renowned for his challenging nature, with players often needing between 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even at the highest levels with the best gear. Thus, chickensandwich420's daily battle is nothing short of a monumental task.

There's a twist, though—chickensandwich420 has set a deadline. If Nightreign doesn't release by June, he plans to shift his focus to other games. This means he could be facing Messmer for over 160 days. As of now, he's on day 23 of his challenge.

Elden Ring: Nightreign is an eagerly awaited spin-off set in the same universe as the original game. Designed for a three-player co-op experience, it was announced at The Game Awards 2024 with a planned release in 2025.
