Dragon Age: The Veilguard Director Reportedly Exits BioWare

Author : Zachary Update : Mar 03,2025

Corinne Busche, director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is reportedly departing from BioWare, an EA-owned studio.

Eurogamer reported Busche's upcoming departure, noting her tenure as game director from February 2022 until the game's launch last year. IGN has sought comment from EA.

The commercial success of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a subject of speculation since its October release. While Eurogamer indicates Busche's departure is unrelated to broader studio restructuring, the game's performance remains undisclosed. EA's Q3 2025 financial results, expected February 4th, may shed light on sales figures.

BioWare has confirmed no DLC is planned for The Veilguard, shifting focus to Mass Effect 5. This follows August 2023 layoffs impacting approximately 50 employees, including veteran narrative designer Mary Kirby.

These events occurred amidst EA's internal restructuring, dividing the company into sports and other entertainment sectors. Concurrently, rumors circulated regarding BioWare's potential acquisition. The decision to transition Star Wars: The Old Republic to a third-party publisher seemingly aimed to streamline BioWare's focus on Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

The 2024 reveal of Dragon Age: The Veilguard (initially titled Dreadwolf) faced initial negative fan reaction, prompting a swift release of early gameplay footage. Despite the less-than-enthusiastic response to the name change, subsequent impressions proved generally positive.

The future of the Dragon Age franchise remains uncertain, leaving fans questioning whether BioWare will receive the opportunity to develop a sequel to The Veilguard.
