As you explore the city, you'll stumble upon these large paper butterflies, each pinned to tree trunks with real butterflies fluttering around them. Collecting a few will lead you to uncover sinister notes revealing the true nature of the Butterfly Collector—a secret society of women intent on kidnapping children from affluent families to gain power and influence.

This nefarious plot cannot stand, and you'll be tasked with bringing these individuals to justice. The Butterfly Collector faction comprises five members, each hiding in different parts of the game world.

How and Where To Find All Butterfly Collector Members in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Shucho

Shucho's carelessness becomes your advantage. She has lost a kidnapped child in the Fishermen’s District, located at the southeastern tip of Osaka. Dressed in green, she can be found frantically searching at an intersection. Use Naoe's blade or Yasuke's brute force to take her down and rescue the child hiding behind nearby horses.

Mucho

From Shucho’s location, head northwest across the bridge to the Kojo ruins. Mucho has disguised herself as a family jochu to get close to her victims. You'll find her struggling with her current target on the road south of the ruins. Use the child's resistance to your advantage, and after Mucho attacks, take her down. Escort the child back to her mother and continue your pursuit of the Butterfly Collector.

Richo

Richo, a young member of the group, masquerades as someone of higher status, despite her peasant-like speech. Rumors in the city will lead you to a bamboo grove in Noda Village, just north of Osaka across the water. Inside the grove, you'll find Richo dressed in pink. Eliminate her to rescue her latest victim and prevent further kidnappings.

Kacho

After eliminating the previous targets, you'll uncover Kacho, the leader of the Butterfly Collector. Her cult-like control over her followers makes her a formidable foe. She's located north of the Nishinomaru Garden, west of Osaka Castle, in a restricted area. Follow the butterflies to her location, engage in dialogue, and prepare for a deadly confrontation. Kacho will fight to the end, revealing little about her true identity before meeting her demise.

Gamemaker

The final member is the Gamemaker, who initiated the butterfly collecting quest. Return to her marked location on the map. As a former victim, she created this game to expose the Butterfly Collector and save others from her fate. You face a moral choice: punish her for her involvement or allow her to start anew. Choosing the latter enables her to adopt a new name and life.

Once you've made your decision, the Butterfly Collector faction will be eradicated, earning you 5,500 XP toward your next level.
