Disco Elysium: Now a Visual Novel on Android

ZA/UM, the award-winning studio behind Disco Elysium, has officially announced a mobile adaptation of the game designed specifically for Android devices.

This new version reimagines the critically acclaimed RPG as a visual novel, shifting away from the original's isometric gameplay. Instead, players will experience illustrated scenes, rich nonlinear storytelling, and fully voiced dialogue—core elements that defined the narrative depth of the original title.

According to the developers, this mobile iteration aims to "bring Disco Elysium to a wider audience while offering existing fans a convenient, mobile-optimized way to enjoy the game." A key focus of the project is reaching younger, digitally native audiences, particularly through platforms like TikTok, as noted by Tõnis Haavel, CEO of ZA/UM:

"We're looking to attract TikTok users with short, story-driven videos featuring beautiful illustrations and immersive audio. This approach opens up new possibilities in mobile entertainment—delivering deep, narrative-driven experiences to where the audience already is.

Games with strong storytelling, like Disco Elysium, belong on mobile. By staying true to the spirit of the original, we hope to reintroduce this unique experience to both newcomers and longtime fans alike. Our goal is simple: let people fall in love with Disco Elysium all over again—this time, right from their phones."

Additional updates, including the official release date and platform specifics, will be revealed in the coming months.
