"The Last of Us Complete Surprises PS5 Owners with Launch Bundle"
Naughty Dog, the renowned studio behind iconic PlayStation titles such as Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted, has once again re-released both of its critically acclaimed games, The Last of Us Part 1 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, in a new bundle for PlayStation 5 (PS5). Dubbed The Last of Us Complete, this all-in-one package was announced and launched today, offering players a comprehensive experience of the series that inspired the popular HBO TV show.
The Last of Us Complete: Collector’s Edition - PS5
Priced at $109.99 and available at PlayStation Direct, The Last of Us Complete is described as "the complete story that inspired the TV show with definitive versions of two award-winning games." Thanks to the capabilities of the PS5, players can enjoy enhanced graphical and gameplay improvements.
The bundle includes the main storylines of both games, along with bonus content added over the years. This includes the Ellie-focused prequel DLC, Left Behind, as well as The Last of Us Part 2’s No Return and Lost Levels content. If you've enjoyed the HBO series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey but haven't yet experienced the video games that started it all, the digital version of The Last of Us Complete is available for $99.99.
Neil Druckmann, Head of Studio at Naughty Dog, shared on the PlayStation.Blog that a physical The Last of Us Complete Collector’s Edition will launch on July 10 for $109.99, with pre-orders available now. This edition includes additional items such as a Steelbook case, game discs, The Last of Us: American Dreams comics 1 – 4, four lithographic art prints, and a thank-you letter from Druckmann.
“From our entire studio, thank you so much for your incredible support for The Last of Us and Naughty Dog over the years,” Druckmann's post reads. “This is such an exciting moment for both the franchise and our teams. We are so humbled by your personal stories of what the series has meant to you, have marveled at your incredible Photo Mode shots, and inspired to keep pushing ourselves forward to create more stories and worlds you’ll love.”
The Last of Us series originally launched for the PS3 in 2013 and has since become a beloved part of the PlayStation catalog. Despite its popularity, the series has faced criticism for its numerous re-releases and remasters. The adventure of Joel and Ellie first came to PS4 with enhanced graphics in 2014 and was remade for PS5 in 2022. The Last of Us Part 2, continuing Ellie’s story, was released in 2020 and received its own remaster in early 2024. Both titles have also been made available on PC, with The Last of Us Part 1 arriving in 2023 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered just last week.
The Last of Us Complete brings together all of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic offerings in one package, marking yet another re-release. While some may question the need for revisiting Joel and Ellie’s world again, the timing aligns with the premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 this Sunday, with Season 3 greenlit just yesterday.
