What Class Should You Choose in Citizen Sleeper 2?
At the start of Citizen Sleeper 2, you'll choose from three classes: Operator, Machinist, and Extractor. This guide helps you decide which best suits your playstyle.
Which Citizen Sleeper 2 Class Should You Choose?
The ideal class depends on your preferred playstyle. Based on a completed playthrough, here's a breakdown of each, including abilities and roleplaying considerations.
Operator
The Operator begins with a +1 in Interface, base levels in Intuit and Engage, and no Engineer. Endure cannot be leveled up. Their ability lets them gain Stress to reroll their lowest die.
While powerful later, the Operator can struggle early on. Interface is a strong skill, but the initial difficulty might be challenging. The reroll ability isn't always beneficial, as a bad roll remains possible. Roleplaying-wise, the Operator is versatile, fitting various character concepts.
Machinist
The Machinist starts with a +1 in Engineer, base levels in Interface and Intuit, and no Endure. Engage cannot be leveled up. Their ability trades Stress for +2 to their lowest die, also losing 2 Stress on a positive outcome. Later, they can further boost their die and reduce Stress.
The Machinist was my preferred class. The ability is extremely useful for overcoming tough situations. Many checks require Engineer and Interface, skills often lacking in crew members. The initial Stress reduction is a huge advantage, as Stress management is crucial. Roleplaying-wise, this class suits players focused on the game's technical and mechanical aspects.
Extractor
The Extractor begins with a +1 in Endure, base levels in Engineer and Engage, and no Interface. Intuit cannot be leveled up. Their ability uses Stress to add +2 to the lowest die of their crew. This ability upgrades to further boost crew member rolls.
The Extractor's ability is highly effective for managing crew members during Contracts, mitigating risks. The starting bonus to Endure is also beneficial, as many situations require it. However, I often found myself with crew members already skilled in Endure and Engage. Roleplaying-wise, this class is ideal for players who prefer a more rugged, combat-oriented character.
This guide helps you choose the best class for your Citizen Sleeper 2 adventure.
