Capcom's Recent Spotlight Unveils Exciting Game Updates

Capcom recently held a Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, revealing significant updates for several titles. Key announcements include new details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and extensive information on Monster Hunter Wilds.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Release

Play Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release, will feature a new protagonist, compelling characters, and engaging enemies. The game aims for immersive sword combat, focusing on the visceral satisfaction of defeating Genma (evil creatures) in a historically accurate recreation of Kyoto. The protagonist, through a twist of fate, will wield an Oni Gauntlet, fueled by the souls of vanquished foes. The developers aim for a challenging yet accessible experience, enjoyable by action fans of all skill levels.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remaster – Coming in 2025

Play A remastered version of the 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is set for release in 2025, bridging the gap until Onimusha: Way of the Sword's arrival.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 Details

Play Monster Hunter Wilds' second Open Beta introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first Beta can be transferred. Returning elements include the Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt.

Beta Dates:

  • Thursday, February 6, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 9, 6:59 PM PT
  • Thursday, February 13, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 16, 6:59 PM PT

Play Character data transfers to the full game (February 28 release), but progress will not carry over. Participants receive a special Pendant.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Enemies

The showcase revealed a new story trailer featuring the Iceshard Cliffs, home to new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami (Leviathan), Nerscylla (Temnoceran), and Gore Magala. Further details on Arkveld were also shared.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Release Date

Play Capcom Fighting Collection 2 launches May 16, 2025, featuring Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.
